He pioneered the controversial ovariotomy operation and in 1865 published Diseases of the ovaries, later becoming surgeon to Queen Victoria's household. In 1860, he lectured at the Grosvenor School of Medicine on The Revival of the Turkish, or ancient Roman bath. |
